FM Crew Club

The F-M Crew Club is sponsored by Fayetteville-Manlius High School. Its inaugural season was Spring 2004 and the team won NY State championships in several novice events. Membership is open to both boys and girls attending Fayetteville-Manlius High School.

The goal of the club is to provide F-M students with an opportunity to learn the sport of rowing and to allow them to successfully compete on a local and regional level.

During the summer, fall, and winter seasons, many of our rowers participate in scholastic programs sponsored by the Syracuse Chargers Rowing Club and the Cazenovia Rowing Club.

Among the Central New York rowing programs, Fayetteville-Manlius H.S. and the combined Henninger/Nottingham H.S. program participated. It was a blustery cold day with a 15-20 mph cross-headwind as the rowers raced in the shadow of the Peace Bridge toward the finish line just ahead of the newly constructed Frank Lloyd Wright Fontana Boathouse. FMHS entered 13 boats in 10 events. Due to the weather, what were originally Time-Trials to determine which boats raced in the Finals became the final race results. Despite the challenging race conditions, all the athletes were motivated and worked hard.

Final results for the girls’ included third place finishes for the Senior [A] and Freshman 8+’s, fifth place finishes for the Senior [B], Lightweight and Junior 8+’s and an eleventh place for the Novice 8+.

On the boy’s side, the Senior 4+ [A] placed third, the Freshman 4+ placed fourth, the Lightweight and Novice 8+’s placed fifth, the Senior 4+ [B] placed seventh and the Senior and Junior 8+’s placed ninth.
